ARR - Green Glow on weapons and armor in the equip section

I'm on my first few days of ARR, what does the green glow on some of the armor and weapons mean in the equip section. I have some armor that has better stats in defence and magic defence at least but they don't have the green glow despite being better which is what i assumed it was.
