Graduation Trip to Japan (First Trip Ever)

Hi guys, I was hoping to get some advice from anyone who went to Japan or knows anything about like traveling. I’ve never travelled before (don’t have a passport yet) and I’m planning on going on a graduation trip to Japan from June 19-30 and am hoping to get some tips on anything.

Currently, I only got $1000 saved, but I’m working to earn more money and I’ll get more for graduation. I wanted to know where are some cheap places to stay, my friends suggested a hostel but I don’t know really what those are or how cheap they are.

I was hoping for just any tips in general, my friends currently want to explore Osaka, Kyoto, and Tokyo. So it’ll be those days split between them. Thank you guys for any tips, also unfortunately I’ll be 17 when I go so I bet there’s some parental form I need to do.
