Why is Bodhi doing this?

SpoilerDiscussion

In my reread of the books, I realized that at one point Bodhi says to Violet, "He's never cared about anyone like this, not even Cat," and then basically tells her to forget about it. Of course, that really struck Violet!

But we realize at the end of Iron Flam that Xaden doesn't really care about Cat. He'd gladly let her die if necessary, he'd kill her uncle if need be, even if it hurt him. And Cat herself knows he doesn't care about her since she tells Violet, "Of course he doesn't love me, he's incapable of loving anyone."

So why did Bodhi say that? To sabotage Xaden? Out of jealousy?

I need your opinions on this.
