Eczema Q&A: Moisturizer switch up
Question:
Hey guysFor the last couple years I've been using petroleum jelly like just petroleum jelly as a body moisturizer and for face. It solved my eczema, I think however that it's giving me milia around my eyes and haven't heard too many good things about being "more flammable" and suchI am really scared to try something new since I don't know how it'll work out on my skin. I mainly get eczema on my body but my face gets really dry as wellDoes anyone have any recs for a simple moisturizer that wouldn't cause milia (and hopefully without any triggering ingredients)? Alternatively I would appreciate some advice on testing products to see if they would trigger me
Answer:
Hey there! It sounds like you've been through the wringer finding something that works for your eczema. Switching products can be nerve-wracking, especially when you're scared of potential reactions.
Sometimes, skin conditions can have deeper roots in our emotions and stress levels. Our body often reacts physically to psychological stressors we might not even be aware of. Addressing these can sometimes alleviate symptoms like eczema.
You might be subconsciously holding onto stress or unresolved emotions, which lead to flare-ups. Ask yourself:
What's been stressing me out lately?
Do I feel trapped or restricted in any part of my life?
Are there emotions I'm avoiding?
How do I feel about change in my life, big or small?
When do I first remember having these symptoms, and what was happening then?
Exploring these questions might offer some relief. Take it slow and be gentle with yourself. Feel free to reach out if you want to chat more!
