If any of you guys have half siblings, are you guys close? Do you ever refer to them as your “half sibling?”

I have a 31-year-old half brother who I rarely ever talk to (i’m 18f), except when I wanna text him happy birthday or when we are seen together family events. my 25-year-old full brother is decently close to him, or at least closer to him than I am.

i always thought that him being my dad’s kid and him being 13 years older than I am is the reason why we aren’t so close. But then I have seen that there are people with half-sibling who are basically like best friends. they don’t even consider them their half sibling. they just call them their brother/sister

I don’t really care for our relationship. I love the man and I want nothing but the best for him, but I don’t wanna force closeness when we are just so drastically different. But every single time I look at his photo on a portrait in my house, I get sad. Because he’s still my family.
