Car dumby: Lease ending, not driving much, looking for something reliable in the snow

My commute is very short and I use my vehicle to travel between nearby buildings in my city; my current lease has 10k miles left and it expires in a month which feels like such a waste! I just want something that will be reliable and handle well in the snow/ice. I normally lease Ford Edges, but I am tired of paying around $400/month on a vehicle I barely drive and am considering purchasing used. I like leasing because I am not very car-savvy which makes me worried about being taken advantage of by used-car salesmen and mechanics, so reliability is a huge factor for me. Detroit driving is pretty wild for a plethora of reasons, I consider myself a confident defensive driver, so safety is a big one for me too.

I am interested in giving Toyota/Honda/Suburu a shot as I have had too many manufacturer issues with my Ford leases, but because I am in the Detroit area there is a stigma around foreign vehicles making it difficult to find unbiased opinions on Japanese vehicles. I hear a lot of assumptions about maintenance being more expensive because parts are imported, older people claim all foreign vehicles are "junk", etc. while my friends are still driving their 15 year old Honda Civics just fine.

Some features I appreciate are: heated seats, remote start (on fob, not a monthly service), rearview camera, lane-changing blindspot detector lights (idk what these are officially called), Android Auto capability, and I reallyyy liked adaptive cruise control in my last vehicle but it's not a high priority. I don't really want a vehicle that is very dependent on the battery because my current vehicle has been glitching out from too many short trips. Any ideas?
