Here is the history of the Sloping Cheekweld Buttstock, more commonly known as the SOPMOD. I had the privilege to become friends with the inventor of the stock, David Armstrong, who I consulted many times on this project for the history of the stock's development. This project came about not only through my own curiosity but also from the vast amount of misinformation floating around regarding the design, the mythological Crane SOPMOD, certain dates, etc. I've done my best to make sure that everything here is accurate.

This has been in the works for several months and 95% of the time taken was used to verify the information was correct through direct sources. These last couple months were wasted trying my best to track down someone at LMT who would answer a couple questions but each lead turned into a dead end. Realistically, the amount of info I needed from them was small, but it would have been nice to confirm with them. These omissions are noted in the article.
