Period every 3 months

General/Advice

I’m an 18y/o who started seeing a new PCP at the end of last year who’s a nurse practitioner and she’s been great. I was diagnosed with pcos when I was 14 and have been on BC ever since. I’m currently on yaz (new PCP switched me to this one because I was on a different one before (desogen)). She asked me a couple questions about my period and how often I get it and I told her every month because I’m on BC. She told me that it’s not necessary to have my period that often and to have it every 3 months and just keep taking BC to prevent/start it. She said it can also prevent endometrial cancer since I’m sort of a hypochondriac and had told her I was worried about developing that since I have family history of it, and with pcos I’m at a higher risk. Is this normal? It feels weird not having my period every month (I love it lol), but I’m just concerned if it’s going to affect my fertility in the future or my overall health. Should I continue just having it every 3 months? Other medications I’m currently on are Setraline (Zoloft) and Zepbound 2.5mg (on the first week so far and it’s been awesome). Any advice is much appreciated.
