What are some scene activities that can help me find more in-person scene folk?
So, I’ve been hoping to get into scene, as a lot of that was popular when I was a kid, and I’m trying to do some inner child healing (I would always see pictures of scene queens on the internet and think “wow, I want to be like THAT when I grow up”, so I’m hoping to now honor that wish). I know a lot of the visuals, imagery, references, fandoms, slang, music, a lot of that, but I’m struggling with figuring out how to meet scene folk in person, especially since I have a potato computer that can’t run many multiplayer video games.
The big problem is that most of the sources I’ve found on how to meet scene people irl focus on raves and concerts, and I’ll be honest…I have major sensory issues surrounding venues that play loud music, and while I haven’t had a seizure in years, flashing strobe lights still give me headaches. Thus, those two things aren’t really options for me.
I will say that I’m transferring to college in the fall as long as I don’t flunk any classes this semester (fingers crossed!) and colleges I’ve heard tend to have a lot of presence for just about any subculture, so that might help. But do y’all have any tips?
