Hey film shooters!

I've been working on a free iOS app called Film Meter for light metering and distance measuring. Just pushed a big update and wanted to share.

What's new in 1.2.0:

1. Redesigned film loading flow - Works like actually loading a roll. Open app → load film → pick camera/format → shoot. Removed all the cluttered parameters.

2. Custom film stocks - Can't find your film? Add it yourself now.

3. Export rolls to camera roll - Save your shooting data locally

4. Revamped rangefinder UI - Added yellow spot indicator + depth of field scale

5. Add auto/manually switch for save meter record to roll.

Core features:

1. Spot & average metering with AI exposure suggestions

2. LiDAR rangefinder (Pro models) with DoF scale

3. Film stock preview for better composition

4. Multiple formats & focal lengths

5. Film management of each roll

Why free? This started as a hobby project and a vibe coding experiment. I'm not planning to monetize it. If you find it useful, a review or tip in the app would mean a lot and keep me motivated to keep updating.

Coming next: Reciprocity support, cloud sync, preset camera gear, more film stocks.

Would love to hear your feedback!

I built a free light meter app for film photographers because I couldn't find one that didn't annoy me
