I don’t know what to talk about with my dad

I (F25) and my dad (M56) are going to the my chemical concert in a few days and I don’t know what to do to not make it awkward.

For some context my family is my parents, me and my brother who is out of the country studying (we are not from the US so sorry for any mistakes in the English) We are not a super close family, if I’m honest the emotional IQ is not high in the family so we can be a little awkward with each other when we run out of topic.

My dad and I don’t have a lot in common since I pretty much hate sports which is my dad fav topic with my brother and we don’t really like the same kind of video games so that topic dries up very quickly.

BUT we do have similar music tastes, we both love rock, he prefers metal while I prefer punk, pop or alt (I actually started to listen to it bc I wanted to have something in common with him)

He has taken me to different kinds of concerts when any kinda rock band comes to my city and I always say yes bc even if I don’t know the band I like sharing something in common with him so even if I only know a song of the set list I take photos of us I think is worth it

Now we are going to the MCR I genuinely like them and I know most of their set list but I don’t think is my dad kinda music or crowd like it has been in other concerts we have gone together. I’m worried that I can’t do what I usually do which is ask him questions about the band and the songs. If he starts asking me I won’t know the answers and it’s going to be awkward and end up in silent the rest of the concert.

I’m not the most social person and heavily rely on shared topics or memories or event to help me during conversation and like I said me and my dad don’t have many of those or not enough to last 5 hours or so.

I don’t wanna end up talking about the last thing I saw on TikTok with my dad on the middle of MCR concert
