Drilled through PSL

Maybe a dumb question, I was prewiring a house, low voltage wire at this residential renovation project and the GC told me to drill a hole through a PSL beam “near the ends” close to the hangars. The electricians also went close to the hangars and the plumbers went outer third of the span. From what I have researched it says middle third of the span is where one should drill PSL if they have to. I’m relatively new to this world, only a year experience doing resi LV pre-wire for an AV company. Am I right to question this?
