6 Day Star Blanket Advice: Chrocheting one for $30 or less for the sake of gift giving?

Hello! I am requesting advice regarding crocheting an affordable 6 day star blanket. I made one almost 2 years ago and I spent around $40 in yarn. I want to make a few for gifts this year and I was wondering if I could feasibly make one for $30 or less? I'm open to other yarn weights (not too skinny) if need be. Which yarn and how much of it would it take to accomplish this goal (if this price point is even obtainable)?
