How to encourage yew hedge horizontal growth

Looking for a bit of advice please. We replaced our hedge with 6ft tall yew (taxus bacata) in spring 2024. The plants are healthy but are fairly slim and I’d like to get them to bush out this year so they can integrate into a more fully grown hedge.

Other that compost and pruning the sides in spring, anything else we should be doing? Many thanks
