“Cousin” in Croatia is pushing me to work for a local businessman. Why?
I’m (23F) 4 days into my holiday in Croatia (here for 3 months), and my cousin (like 4th or 5th) (43M) has been trying to set me up to work for a local businessman who owns property and several businesses in the village. I only met this cousin since arriving in Croatia, he contacted me via WhatsApp (no one gave him my number) and offered to pick me up from the airport. I paid him (he didn’t ask) because I honestly didn’t want to see him anymore than that.
Even though I said I have no experience in the industry and don’t want a job, my cousin told me to act like I already know how to do the work and to show interest. When we went to the bar where the businessman works, my cousin introduced me and told him to ask me about work. The businessman didn’t seem particularly interested?
My cousin also suggested three potential jobs: a small grocery, bar/cafe work, or cruise ship work. He’s been very nice by touring me around the country (I pay for meals) and seems to be pushing me into this. Considering my cousin has never worked, and is know to be a cheap and leech off of others. Something’s off. He’s being too nice
I’m wondering what could my cousin’s motive be for trying to get me involved so quickly?
