Advice on my month long itinerary in Italy September 2026

Itinerary !!MUST PROVIDE TRAVEL DATES!!

Hi all
I've been following the reddit for a few months and have seen some great recommendations and suggestions for people's itinerary and I was hoping I could get some feedback for my own!

The way I have laid it out is via location that has Day1/Day 2 etc but that's just for me to see what to do in a single day, not necessarily in that specific order. I've grabbed a lot of this just from either googling things to do or yoinked from other itineraries.

Things get a bit difficult and I'd really appreciate some advice here on what to do, after Florence. I was thinking of heading to Cinque Terre to relax and not do too much for a day or two then I could either

  • Head to Venice from Cinque Terre (5 hr train trip which would mean an extra day might be nice to stay and relax ( 3 days)
  • Or go through Turin/Milan/Lake Garda to break up the travel and stay a night in each place while being able to see more of Italy (roughly 2 hrs travel a day - which does seem a little tiring)

Should I just expand my trip a little bit, say an extra 2-3 days, to be able to see Turin/Milan etc more comfortably?

Is it worth spending more time in Florence so I can go to both of the tours that I have linked in that section? And maybe spend an extra day in Rome or Sicily? Then just go straight to Venice?
Should Cinque Terre just be a day trip from Florence to save some extra travel time?

Any feedback or suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated!
