Gleeoks feel so underwhelming

I am so confused by fighting these things, because I always just end up arrow spamming the heads. Sure the last phase can be cool, but then again, I can also just arrow the heads. I feel like fighting them isn't fun and that there is way less depth than in fighting a lynel or guardian (which they replaced by gleeoks I guess). For how cool and menacing they look I feel pretty underwhelmed. I don't get the design behind these things at all.
