My ex applied for a loan with my name

I got an email from an online “bank”. My ex has an androgynous name and it was addressed to his first name only. It said a loan app had been denied. I emailed the lender and asked about it. They confirmed an app was submitted in my name, but they wouldn’t confirm who had done it. I tried to get the info for two months and they refused.

I started working with a PD detective to help get the info and pursue charges. They had me file with the FTC Fraud Alert agency, and file a complaint with the BBB. The BBB forced the lender to send me the application, and it was my ex-husband.

The scan of the app was heavily redacted, so PD is subpoenaing the lender to get more evidence, like the amount that was requested. That amount will be the difference between a misdemeanor and a felony. That is where I am right now.

I am so angry he would do this. To my knowledge he has no idea what is coming for him. He could do jail time. Yes, I’ve had a person say ‘no harm, no foul, let it go’, but there is no way. He has needed a rock bottom to shake him into a decent human, so let it be this.
