The flood of foreign credentials in Toronto.
It’s actually crazy how about 30% of the profiles I see on LinkedIn at the companies that are hiring have extensive experience back home. One person is working a staff position but was a manager in grant thorton Philippines. Toronto has become a “parking” spot for lots of these people who couldn’t get into the US. Except US has 100x the jobs that we have while canada already has a very high white collar population.
At my small public firm all 3 of our new staff members are also internationals. We just couldn’t find anyone else.
I think it’s even a bigger reason to go big 4 or some rotational program in Canada since you can fast track without fighting in entry level hell with literal managers from India and Philippines.
