Winding Down Blog Day 31

Winding Down posts masterlist

Standard Intro:

Hello. I'm writing this partially as emotional regulation for me, partially an update to make them more regular. I'm writing it before bed in the hopes that it will help me process stuff. I've found that publicly writing out my thoughts and feelings, even in a clinical or detached way, helps to stop things from festering within me and causing even more emotional buildup.

Video that made me happy recently: 産業革命

This title means "industrial revolution". A high-brow title for a funny dog video of 3 shiba inu on a walk. For more context, look up the Spinning Jenny.

I've decided I'm not going to comment on tipofmytongue until I can muster up the courage to send a message to modmail about my flair. It's just one more point than necessary, but I don't want to have to reach out after I have way more points and ask for it to be corrected then. I can look back in my solving history and see if there are any that I didn't get the point for, so it balances out. But that's going to wait until tomorrow at earliest. I might go back on this decision if I see something I know the answer to and feel differently about it when that happens.

One of my favorite things on the internet is/was the Infinite Jukebox, and its companion tool the Autocanonizer. Neither of the originals are still up, and the mirrors broke about a month ago when the bookmarklet that allowed their continued use was blocked by Spotify, but there is a now a successor project, so try it out (you'll need to go here if you want the Autocanonizer too). Essentially, these break up songs into beats, then skip between similar beats to create a near-seamless "infinite" version of the song. The Autocanonizer plays the similar parts at the same time to create a canon, while the Jukebox only plays one at once (difficult to explain- try it yourself.) Consider me a long-time fan. A similar thing (to an extent) is the beat machine, which lets you do beat swaps/removals.

It's hard to believe it's been a month since everything happened and I started writing these posts. It feels both longer in some ways and shorter in some ways. Maybe that's a cop-out statement to make though.

I end up writing more about the technology thing i feel like sharing each day than about my emotions, which might be a good sign for my mental health ultimately, but does defeat the purpose as stated in the intro. Maybe it's just that writing about the things that make me happy make me even more happy, and calm me down. But I don't know where the unease is coming from that creates the need to calm down. Either way, that's all for tonight, save for the standard outro.

Goodnight. Time to try and relax.
