Proud of this team
Growing up I wasn't really big into watching football games outside of the Longhorns, so many teams I didn't even know about NFL wise. Being from Dallas I only knew about the Cowboys and teams they played, usually of course, NFC teams. As a kid the teams I did know I liked because of silly reasons like colors, mascots and logos. I grew up liking the NFL based off players from around the league.
2011, I was about 9, my best friend at the time had a Pats jersey, the first time I found out about the Pats. As a kid, you're easily influenced by whatever your friends do or like. I took an interest. It also helped that I was allowed to watch Family Guy back then, and around the same time the Brady episode played. During a library visit at school, I found a book that displayed the start of the Pats dynasty. Of course I was thinking these guys are cool as fuck. The book didn't just highlight Brady but Pats legends like Rodney Harrison, Deion Branch, Troy Brown, Tedy Bruschi, Willie Mcginest, Richard Seymour. Eventually I found myself in the toy section holding a Tom Brady robot toy. At the time I grew fond of Woodhead, Welker, Hernandez, Gronk. But mainly in my early years, the simple and most obvious thing is that I fell in love with Tom Brady.
Fast forward and I fell in love with Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, Hightower, Chung, Harmon, Dmac, Logan Ryan, Blount, Jamie Collins, Dion Lewis, and as you-all know we got much more. Players get older, retire or sign somewhere else, and my #1 reason for becoming a fan and cheering for the Pats has left, honestly felt like my heart was ripped out, and I know everyone else felt the same. Imo there was no reason to switch, I didn't just fall in love with the players, but the idea of Patriot football: Do your job, next man up mentality. And every team at the end tries to uphold those 2 statements, but not like us.
Now I gotta watch a washed up Cam Newton throw the ball at guys feet, cheering for a Stidham era, then we landed Mac. Unfortunately we let him down and during that it's got me cheering for Zappe hour. None of that shit worked. Finally we land THE NUMBER ONE CB IN THE LEAGUE and sweet little pookie bear Drake Maye. Still ass, however I could feel it, we hit the jackpot.
I had hopes when the season came, I didn't expect another AFC championship appearance, but it happened all over again. I've fallen in love with this team. With every fiber and bone in my body I'm saying we're winning tomorrow, but regardless of what happens I'm happy of the outcome of this season. I wasn't into sports when Brady's era started (02 baby) but I'm happy I'm here for Maye's. I haven't suffered like real(New Englanders) and longer Pats fans before the Brady era, and I'm fine with being labeled a bandwagon. But I wouldn't switch up for this team for anything or anyone.
