Arabic is tough for new converts – tips & experiences

Assalamu alaikum! I’m a native Arabic speaker, and I’ve noticed Arabic can feel overwhelming for new converts. Here are a few things I’ve seen help my convert friends:

1️⃣ Join Arabic communities online or locally and practice whatever Arabic you know – they’re usually open and supportive!

2️⃣ Start with words/phrases you actually use in prayer, like Allahu Akbar, Alhamdulillah, or short du’as.

3️⃣ Learn word roots – it helps you understand related words and makes reading the Qur’an easier.

4️⃣ Listen to slow Qur’an recitations and repeat aloud to improve pronunciation.

5️⃣ Combine seeing and hearing words – visual + auditory learning helps memory.

6️⃣ Pair vocabulary with meaning in context, always learn phrases not just single words.

What tips or strategies helped you when learning Arabic? I’d love to hear your experiences!
