Is it wrong of me to be upset that my boyfriend of 6 months is probably not going to do anything for Valentine’s Day
We haven’t had a conversation about it or anything but he said he doesn’t believe in holidays or something and I just have a feeling he won’t do anything. Like he almost definitely isn’t about to make a reservation or take me out or anything cuz he has never taken me on a date before ever. Nor has he ever paid for dinner (we split or I end up paying). I told him I want to go out on a date to a real restaurant and not just go to fast food places all the time but I don’t think he really cares.
We haven’t had a discussion about Valentine’s Day but I feel like by now if he was going to like take me out, he would’ve told me so I’d make sure to be available that day. It would be hard to make a reservation at this point anywhere nice for that night (I checked).
I’m all for abolishing gender roles and whatever and I
could plan something myself, but I just feel like it’s his turn to make an effort. I try to do nice things for him but he only reciprocates if I do something for him first and it has to be like in the recent past for him to remember.
I know maybe he doesn’t know it’s important to me but he should know me well enough to realize it would be. And I really just don’t want to ask and be disappointed that he didn’t even think of anything or have to beg him to make an effort. Like I don’t want him to start planning something just because I asked, but I also don’t want to get to the day and be disappointed cuz then I’m just going to get mad and probably break up with him.
.
Anyway, should I just ask him about Valentine’s Day or forget it and wait?
