Adolescence, persistent guilt and reconstruction
Hello,
I'm 27 years old and I've been struggling with a heavy sense of guilt for a long time, related to things that happened during my adolescence.
At that time, I had intrusive sexual thoughts and a curiosity I didn't understand at all. I also engaged in inappropriate behavior when I was a minor, towards a younger family member. I won't go into details, but these memories and the associated emotions still haunt me today.
I've been seeing a psychiatrist for several years, and I've been diagnosed with OCD and am on medication. I'm actively working on these issues in therapy.
I've been in therapy. What I'm looking for here is neither to justify myself nor to be excused, but to find out if others have experienced similar things during their adolescence (intrusive thoughts, behaviors they didn't understand at the time, persistent guilt afterward), and how they managed to move forward and find some inner peace over time.
Thank you for your respectful and kind responses.
