Mixed feelings about diagnosis
I’ve suspected I’ve had PCOS since I was a teenager, but no one took me seriously. I’m 24 now, and I started seeing a new gynecologist who listens to me and we did some blood tests. I have pretty high testosterone levels (direct testosterone is 12.7 ph/mL) and she confirmed that I have PCOS. I switched birth controls and started taking myo + d-chiro inositol, but I feel ashamed. I thought I would feel better having an answer but I don’t. I’ve never felt super feminine, and the results are making me feel worse. It’s nice knowing that there’s a cause to all my symptoms, but I wasn’t expecting to feel so… sad. I can’t be intimate with my partner because I feel so out of touch with myself. I can’t even bring it up because I feel a lump in my throat when I try to. It’s been a little over a week since I got the results back but I’m still processing it. Not sure if this makes sense, but I wanted to yell into the void.
