Weird but functioning

so when my furnace is done cycling the thermostat flashes the low battery screen, causing a mild heart attack, then the normal screen comes back after a few seconds, it will cycle on appropriately and then repeat when cycling off. batteries are new, wires under the thermostat are secure, didn’t seem to be anything interfering with the connectors on the thermostat. kind of stumped and concerned.
