Ethan paternalism
I've been watching H3 for a few years now, and will continue to watch. However, I can't help but state how disappointed I am in the way Ethan treated the Kingsmen drama. The importance on the world stage, even in Kingsmen's life, is small, yet it's not the importance of a drama that matters, but the way we interact with it.
Throughout the video, Ethan obsessively found ways to blame Kingsmen, and every time one of the women in the group did something objectively problematic, he would either sweep for them, or merely acknowledge it. I was blown away, when instead of critiquing rich people caring little for a win that mattered to someone poor, his take away was to critique the poor person for their life choices. Genuinely repugnant stuff.
He treated Zaza as if she was a child. She was the 'weird widow girl,' who Kingsman should have made space for, because who could or would expect someone like her to actually try the tips a very good player is giving.
Just to add a differing lens, I could not imagine losing again and again in a team, and not being so ashamed as to do anything I could to improve. I would feel so embarrassed, as it's not about me, it's about the team. The narcissism and callousness to instead get upset at him, attack his personality, when he always made sure to address the mistakes of choosing widow, rather than the mistakes the player was making personally, is disturbing.
I have one brother and three sisters. One of my sisters is a speech pathologist who started her own business completely from scratch, and just won an award for a charity she created to help young children with serious cognitive and speech problems. My other sister is successful in sales, and the other, studying to become a psychologist. Women are intelligent and incredibly capable people.
The only thing worse than a misogynist, is someone, who, in trying to uphold women, bring them down through infantilising them. We can do better than that.
