Got out. Want to rejoin at 29
TLDR: 29 year E-5. Got out a little over a 1.5 years ago and want to come back. Should be easy for me to get back in. If i decided to rejoin, do you think I would be treated like crap at my next command since they will know I separated and then came back?
I got out of the Navy as an E-5 in early 2024, so coming up on two years of being out in a few months. Ever since I left, I haven’t been able to shake the feeling that it was a mistake to get out. The feeling of wanting to rejoin hasn’t gone away, and it’s stronger than ever lately.
When it was time for me to reenlist, I chose not to because pretty much everyone around me was complaining constantly about how much they hated it and it couldn’t wait to leave. Even part of my CoC would tell me that I should get out and how much more money and better off I’d be if I did. It left me feeling like I would be a fool to re-enlist so I did like most of my peers and get out.
I have been pretty successful in finding work as a civilian, I have a great job that pays me well and only requires I work a few days a week. Couldn’t ask for a better job situation.
As comfortable as my job is, I just miss the Navy life and all the bs that comes with it. I’m bored af out here and don’t even know what to do with myself. i’ve tried to find things to occupy my time, like working out, finding hobbies. But nothing seems to get rid of the feeling.
I’m a single person, no kids and will probably never be married so it’s not like i’d be leaving anything behind if i did go back. And I think it would be relatively easy for me to get back in since my re-enlistment code is RE-1 and I never claimed any disability on the way out.
Basically, am I fool for feeling this way and do you think i’d be making a big mistake by rejoining? Would i be treated like crap at my next command if I go back to being an a second class at 29 y/o and the CoC knowing that I got out and then came running came back? what do yall think? lmao
