Finally understood what people mean by "rubber duck debugging" after explaining my code issue to my cat
I've been stuck on this bug for like 2 hours. Nothing made sense. Database queries looked fine, API was responding, but the data just wasn't showing up right.
My cat jumped on my desk and I just started talking to her like "okay so the user clicks here, then this function fires, and it calls this endpoint..."
Halfway through explaining it I realized I was mapping the wrong field. The whole time. Face palm moment.
Apparently my cat is now a senior developer. She just stared at me like "yeah, I knew that."
Do you talk through problems out loud? Does it actually help or is it just me?
