how can i feel more comfortable initiating following a dry spell, that’s now over?

hi! my (22f) bf (24m) and i have been together for 5 months. a few months ago, he quit nicotine and it had a big influence on his sex drive. i’d get shot down over and over and eventually we talked and i said id just let him initiate to avoid the awkwardness and uncomfortable situations. now the spell is over, and im struggling to initiate. i ask straight up if he wants to, but he told me that kinda takes him out of it. i struggle with putting myself out there for it bc im awkward and bc of the spell. he initiates more now, i constantly call him sexy and he does too. but, i wanted advice on getting more comfortable with trying to get him.
