It got me thinking

We were invited to an event by our friends, friends I thought were really close to us. Before the event, the host messaged our GC asking us not to bring kids since the place was small and they might run around. Mind you, all of us have kids. I didn’t mind, though. We still went, and thankfully we were able to find someone to look after our kids while we were there.

When we arrived at the event, we saw kids. Other guests brought their children, and even one of our friends from the same circle brought theirs. Still, I didn’t say anything. I know my kids are *super* makulit and really have that tendency to run around, typical kids with lots of energy. I respected the request and let it go.

While we were there, our friends kept asking where our kids were and why we didn’t bring them. I kept answering, “Didn’t you read the GC? You said no kids. And makulit kasi sila diba, baka magtatakbo.” I repeated that every time someone asked. They were surprised because they know we usually bring our kids everywhere, lagi namin silang bitbit.

When we got home, my husband was quiet. I asked him what was wrong, and he told me that maybe we shouldn’t have gone at all. If the kids weren’t invited, then we shouldn’t have come. He also asked why I didn’t find it strange that we were the only ones who didn’t bring our kids, while the host seemed okay with others bringing theirs. He felt like the message in the GC was meant only for us, that *we* weren’t supposed to bring our kids.

He told me to really think about the kind of friends I have. And now I’m left wondering: OA lang ba ang asawa ko, or ako yung mali for not seeing it that way?
