Hey everyone !

When I was a kid/teenager, I used to paint Warhammer minis just for fun without really knowing what I was doing. Now, 15–20 years later, I picked up the Combat Patrol collection to get back into it more seriously, and I decided to go with Salamanders (like many others).

I’m trying to follow tutorials and adapt them to the paints I have. I’m pretty happy with my first mini as a beginner, but there’s one thing that frustrates me: the paint scheme doesn’t really “pop” enough. It feels dull.

When I compare my result to the example in the screenshot (from this video: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJvEzDKPkMw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJvEzDKPkMw) ), you can clearly see that his green looks more “alive,” maybe a bit more yellowish?
He uses Warpstone Glow for the base and Moot Green for the highlights, while I use Army Painter Greenskin (which a lot of people recommend for Salamanders) for the base and Emerald Forest for the highlights. Do you have any idea what I might be missing?

Second question: for this mini, I primed in black hoping it would help bring out the recesses. It does work, but it looks a bit “dirty” and lacks sharpness.
For a second mini, I primed in white and after applying the green basecoat I used a “Green Tone” wash. It doesn’t darken the recesses as much as in the video (but it does look cleaner).

Once again, I’m a bit confused. I’m trying to apply the same methods, but I’m getting different results. I’d really appreciate any advice or feedback you can give!

PS : My photo doesn’t really capture what I’m seeing in person, but I’ll trust your experienced eyes on this one, haha.
