Is there no way not to get terrible inverse ghosting when my monitor goes below 60hz?

I recently plugged my ps5 into the 240hz monitor that I own but it has this really apparent inverse ghosting that I cannot for the life of me seem to get rid of. I've tried tweaking the overdrive and freesync setting but nothing has helped. Am I just hopeless and need to downgrade to a 60hz monitor or what?
