This child didn’t bring a knife to attack, he brought it kujitetee, kujipigania, because the system that should shield him chose comfort over responsibility. That is not discipline failure; it is institutional negligence. We laugh, dismiss & label everything as “old clips” or “exaggeration” until reality punches back hard. A child walking into school with a kitchen knife is not content for mockery or cheap skepticism, it is a screaming indictment of our indifference. This wasn’t bravado or criminal intent. It was fear.

It was a child pushed so far by relentless bullying that survival instincts kicked in, because every report made to authority was met with silence, shrugs, or dismissal. When adults fail, children improvise. Let’s be very clear, no child should ever feel the need to arm themselves to feel safe in school. But when teachers ignore cries for help, when institutions tasked with protection treat bullying as “normal,” “character building,” or “kids being kids,” they create a vacuum & that vacuum is filled by desperation.

So to those still joking, doubting, or intentionally downplaying such cases to sway narratives instead of saving lives ask yourselves this, how many warnings do you need before tragedy happens? Bullying has escalated from teasing to trauma, from trauma to self defense. Kenyan schools must wake up. Parents must demand accountability. Teachers must act. Because when children conclude that adults won’t protect them, they will protect themselves & the consequences will be on all of us.

When Bullying is Ignored, Children Arm themselves.🙆🏾‍♂️A Brutal Failure of Kenyan 🇰🇪Schools & Institutions.
