I[18F] have cut my hair, my mom[46F] is mad about it

A few days ago I(17f) cut my 91cm hair down to my mid-back because of my work (baker/ Pastry chef), i know I could've made it work but i had to work around my hair for 2 years because of my job and my boss reprimanded me for it since i started my studies under them. I've never cut my hair before to such length, max i did was a trim around my edges.

My mom values my hair a lot like a LOT, she always talked about it but she never taught me how to take care of it and never saw it more than its length, as a consequence my hair is very damaged, burned and breaks of easily, it's very brittle to the top of my head.

I basically had no choice but to cut it, so i did. She's super mad at me rn, saying i won't be special anymore as if my only attribute was my hair. I know she'll get used to it but it still feels weird for her to look at me like I'm nothing more than my hair
