People are so rude here!
Disclaimer: I am not trying to generalize everyone, I am not saying that everyone here is as I have described below, I have met and interacted with many pleasant and well mannered people here as well, its just that there are enough of these kind of people to worsen and leave a mark on the overall experience I had here.
I recently moved to NOIDA for my first job, this was going to be my first time living in a metro and well planned city, I was excited. While my month long stay here so far has been mostly positive - Metro connectivity, major brand outlets, well constructed roads (at least
better than where I come from) among many other things, there's one thing which has left a sour taste in my mouth, the general lack of politeness and a needlessly annoyed short tempered attitude of people.
Whenever I talk to a shopkeeper, restaurant staff or a Rapido driver, it feels like they had a bad or a series of bad days and couldn't be bothered about anything at all.
If I do anything or say anything which will even slightly inconvenience them, they will start ranting about it for needlessly long amount of time, adding things which don't have much relevance but they will say it anyway, it feels as if I was the straw that broke the camel's back, like they are releasing all of their pent up anger on me. How can everyone be angry all the time in a city.
I face an unpleasant experience like that almost every other day and its really disheartening.
And hey, It's not like I haven't dealt with people before, I have lived outside my home (and hometown) in Gujarat and Tripura but didn't have to face this type of rudeness on a regular basis. All this really discourages me from interacting with people at all and the pollution is not helping at all.
Also on a sidenote, how are people here not bothered by their friends and/or partners smoking near them? Do people not know that passive smoking is as dangerous as regular smoking? I guess the already hazardous air makes people indifferent to a little bit more smoke.
Thanks for reading my rant. Would love to hear your thoughts on this matter.
