Is it possible to be a non responder?

I tried tretinoin 0.025 for 6 months and nothing changed, no irritation, no peeling but also no results. I then upgraded to boderm tazarotene 0.05 (although it's just a cosmetic product so probably not as efficients) for another 6 months, same effect, no change in skin at all. Now I'm on glenmark tazarotene 0.1, for the past 2 weeks and have no side effects at all, no irritation, no peeling, nothing. My skin looks a tiny bit clearer but I'm not sure if I'm just gaslighting myself. Is it possible to not respond to retinoids?
