Hiking tips for Sierra Vista Open Space Preserve

Hello guys, I'm pretty new to san jose and wanted to explore some places and found sierra vista a great one to visit. Can someone please let me know if this is a good time to visit, will I be able to see the greenary, views and lakes etc. Also I like travelling solo so is the place remotely safe for people travelling alone.
