Confused about starting a new game

I haven’t played Elden Ring in about a year. At first, I started like everyone else, really enjoying the game, but I eventually got stuck on the early boss fights.

Since all my friends had already beaten the game, my brother suggested that I use WeMod for lightweight armor and max runes. I kept playing that way until I reached Radagon, but I stopped because I felt demotivated and it didn’t feel good or rewarding anymore.

Now I’m wondering if I should start a new game from scratch and play it the “legit” way, beat the main game properly, and then do the DLC.
