Honor mode help: adopting the owlbear

Hey guys! Me and my partner have an honor mode run, and yesterday we killed the owlbears. We thought that’d let us adopt the cub, but it kept attacking. We fled the combat because we didn’t wanna kill it, but can we adopt it from here? We’ve already finished the goblin camp and are currently going through the Underdark
