Kids Regional Archery Competition

it’s my sons 1st year participating in competitive archery & we had the opportunity to participate in the Lancaster Archery Classic yesterday. it as a huge eye opener as there were so many talented individuals adults and children alike competing! was very difficult for my son as a 4th grader he came in last but 3rd in his age group for boys as there were only 3 shooting. we think he did well considering before this school year he barely picked up an arrow once so we were quite surprised when he got invited back after tryouts. locally he has been shooting top in his grade / gender but they are in controlled and quiet environments. so this big noisy atrium was very different for him.

for the older competitors what helped you overcome huge learning curves ? were you always number 1 even in large regional competitions or did you have to make major adjustments at very new phase? I could tell my son was A bit disappointed with his score but he has never shot for 3 hours straight like that with all the noise so honestly I’m just proud he finished!
