Should We Manually Grow Plants When AIC Automatic Plant Machines Exist?

Just talked to the Vera NPC who taught me how to farm crops

But this happened LONG after I already unlocked the ability to create automatic chains of Seed Harvester & Planter machines with the AIC

Is there something I'm missing or is manual farming completely pointless?
