Can someone like me actually enter Indian politics or is this a fantasy?

Politics | রাজনীতি 🏛️

I’m 28M. Born and brought up poor. No political family. No connections. No money power. I built my career on my own in the IT/marketing space and I’m doing fine professionally.

But for a long time, I’ve had this thought.

I want to enter Indian politics someday. Not as a social media activist. Not as a consultant. I want to contest elections and become an MP.

At the same time, I live in the sub-urban area of Kolkata. I see how politics actually works here. Muscle. Money.

So I keep asking myself:
Is this ambition courageous or just naive?

Is Indian politics completely closed to people without lineage, money, or criminal backing?
Or are there realistic entry paths that don’t involve selling your soul?

I’m not looking for motivation. I’m looking for honesty.
If this is a bad idea, say it plainly.
If it’s possible, explain how ugly the road really is.

Would genuinely value perspectives from people who’ve seen politics up close in Bengal.
