Is it normal?
I’m on an exchange and I’ve been in my host family’s house for only 2 days. My “bedroom” doesn’t have a door, just curtains. My host brother’s room is set up so that he has to pass through my room to get in and out (not constantly, but it does happen).
On top of that, some of the drawers in my room aren’t fully mine — he also keeps his clothes in a few of them.
Nothing bad has happened, and everyone is nice, but I’m struggling with the lack of privacy and not really having a space that feels fully mine. Since it’s so early, I’m not sure if I should bring it up now, wait and see if I adapt, or talk to my exchange organization.
Is this a normal setup for a host family?
What would you do in my situation?
