White Knuckle is one of the best games I've ever played

Gameplay wise it's a climbing simulator. You have two hands, one controlled with each mouse button that can grab ledges. An inventory to store items that help you climb further. And regular movement.

Very simple, but the depth and learning curve this allows is incredible. Every run you get better, you climb faster, you find better strategies and do riskier moves. Maybe instead of always holding a ledge with one hand so you don't fall you jump from ledge to ledge, and then you jump across the room for an alternative path that's faster until you breeze through stages that took you minutes before.

The movement system is probably the best in any game I've ever played. Momentum, weight, speed all feels extremely satisfying and natural.

The immersion is also fantastic. I don't even know what it is, but the graphics, sound design and level design just have me in awe every time I enter a new area. The sense of scale is crazy.

I think this game flew under the radar. It's criminal it was barely nominated for any awards this year. I only found out about it from some comment someone else left. So maybe let this post be what makes you check it out.
