Upholsterering a chair not built yet?
Hi, I'm in my second year of a furniture design and making course (wood only). I have a few reupholstering projects done (including a couple of armchairs) and I did my work experience section last year in an upholstery place, so I know a small bit. However, for my final project this year I want to do a chair with a framed seat and upholstered cushion within (so the frame can be seen) and I realise I'm not sure where to start. I haven't seen how the upholstery is constructed in chairs like this... ones I did during my work placement had the fabric wrapped round the frame. My Google skills aren't exactly top notch so I haven't found specific answers: if I use webbing would I need to construct the frame with a rebate for the webbing to be attached? Any advice on the project in general would be appreciated but I'm particularly wondering about that part so I can start designing the chair itself. Thank you!
