4nec2, if you set a wire to be ignored, where does it do so?

Hope this is the right sub...

I'm on the Mac and trying to make a 4nec2 compatible parser. One of the features is that if you set the tag number >= 9800 < 9900 then those items "are not displayed".

Is this purely in the display? IE, are these items still parsed in geometry, segmented and calculated? I think that is the case, but I do want to be sure.
