Show me patience please
Show me patience, please
I am trying to learn
Show me kindness, please
I am trying to earn
I long ago learned to stand on my own
But everyone around me seems to have a hand to hold
To hold them up, to hold them close, to hold them dear
The touch of anyone is something I’m afraid I fear
So show me patience, please
I am trying to feel
Show me kindness, please
I am trying to heal
It is slow going, i am often standing still
I often have the mind but do not have the will
Why is it so hard, am I even trying?
I must be, I must be, why else would I be crying
Show me patience please
Does it matter in the end
Show me kindness please
I know you are my friend
I am trying I am trying i am trying I swear
But sometimes the weight is more than I can bare
Would you help me if I had the courage to call
I know I am strong enough to survive my own fall
I made sure of it long long ago
A scared child who saw his future down the road
I made myself exactly who I am right now
So all of this must be my fault some how
I made myself strong, resilient, stone
I knew I would be, so I chose to be alone
I knew it was coming, I heard it in his preaching
I knew it was coming, I heard it in her teaching
I never was seen, so I learned not to show
I never was encouraged, so I hid all my growth
I never was truly loved, so I learned not to care
At least I tried to, god I tried not to care
I tried not to, I tried not to, I tried not to, I tried not to
Show me patience please
If you can, if you dare
Show me kindness please
I am almost there
Show me kindness please
Even if this is as far as I can go
Show me patience please
I am trying to come home
