When looking at what sort of content came out of the fandom back in 2014-2018 vs today, I noticed how a lot of trends seemed to have stayed within that timeframe, like drawing animatronics as anime characters or furries. I talked about this in a comment and someone explained to me how cringe culture might've ruined that part of the fandom

I recently looked into what cringe culture is exactly and asked myself a question "*Did cringe culture have a detrimental impact on FNAF and its fandom? Or is it the opposite because it stopped people from making content you don't want?*"

If you want my opinion on the topic, I think anyone who goes out of their way to make fun of or otherwise degrade people just because they see them as cringe is a dick, and it's tragic to see this behavior normalized in so many fandoms. I wouldn't be saying this if I myself hadn't experienced this first hand. Back when I was a Junior in high school, I became fascinated by furries, mostly because I noticed how much people judge them unfairly and how much fun it can be get involved in things like furry conventions. Around this time, I met a couple people who made "*jokes*" about how furries deserve to be shot and killed because if they're allowed to act like animals, why shouldn't people be allowed to hunt them for sport? I didn't say anything because I wanted these people to think I'm cool. Not to mention, I myself was a bit of an edgy teenagers so I made those jokes too. At the time, I thought they were funny, but I now I think I was putting on an act because I was scared of people seeing me as cringe. Also, for a long time, I'd rarely talk about my art with anyone, and that's partly because I was scared of meeting people who'd tear it to shreds for being cringe. Not to mention, I have both autism and anxiety, and around this time, I met a lot of people who thought it was cool to make fun of autistic people, even after I told them that I'm on the spectrum

A bit of a loaded question about the FNAF fandom's history. Marked NSFW for mentions of blatantly toxic behavior
