Cycle safety | Advice needed!

Hello, I am planning on getting my first bike here in Germany but I've been ONLY hearing about how theft is EXTREMELY common here. I want some tips on how to keep the cycle safe, especially when I park it outside in the city. what are some best kinds of locks to use, how many to have, how and where to park and any other tips and stuff to watch out for, while biking in the city and beyond.
